The Battle of Britain Memorial, London
The Battle of Britain Memorial, Victoria Embankment, London
The Battle of Britain Memorial, Victoria Embankment, London Free Access Open 24/7 “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few” Winston S. Churchill, British PM 20th August 1940. A poignant and fitting tribute to the 'few’ who served in the RAF and taking part in 'The Battle of Britain'. Situated on the Victoria Embankment almost opposite the London Eye this monument was unveiled in 2005 in the presence of the remaining living 'few’ Battle of Britain pilots. It’s a very moving memorial sculpture in granite and cast bronze panelling at a cost of £1.74 million pounds to build.
