London Pancake Races, Shrove Tuesday

London Pancake Races, Shrove Tuesday - a tradition upheld for decades. Legend has it that a woman was cooking pancakes in her kitchen when she heard the local church bells callin the faithfull to worship - she ran out of the house with her pan in her hand, pancake and all.

Now celebrations are carried out by men, women and older children running round the streets, some in costume, tossing pancakes as they go!
